The Cubs are targeting Bo Bichette (or Bregman) as a key offensive upgrade that would create positional flexibility. Adding Bichette would allow the Cubs to either trade Nico Hoerner or move Matt Shaw into a super-utility role while evaluating a long-term extension for Hoerner. Bichette would best fit as third baseman or designated hitter, upgrading offense without a mega contract.
