Former Blue Jays prospect Dasan Brown signs with Brewers
"In the summer of 2019, the Blue Jays selected the Oakville, Ontario native out of Abbey Park High School in the third round, as he was the first Canadian to go off the board at that year's draft. Brown had a strong abbreviated debut, slashing .222/.444/.356 in the 14 games he played after the draft. Like all minor leaguers, Brown didn't play in the minor leagues in 2020, because there were no minor leagues."
"Brown had a strong 2022 season. Beginning in Single-A, he slashed .279/.369/.450 with four home runs in 162 plate appearances for a 135 wRC+. He didn't slow down upon a promotion to High-A, as he slashed .298/.392/.411 with two home runs in 176 plate appearances with the Vancouver Canadians, giving him a 134 wRC+. All told, he finished the 2022 season with a 133 wRC+, but a high K5 of 28.3%."
"Maybe Brown just performs better in even-numbered years, as he slashed .257/.363/.411 with eight home runs in 329 High-A plate appearances to begin the High-A season, good for a 125 wRC+. In that span, he also had an 11.9 BB% and 24 K%, but Brown struggled upon his first foray into the upper-minors, posting a 72 wRC+ in 119 plate appearances with the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats."
Dasan Brown, an Oakville, Ontario native, was selected in the third round of the 2019 draft and posted a promising short debut. He missed 2020 due to the canceled minor-league season and delivered modest Single-A results in 2021. Brown produced strong numbers across Single-A and High-A in 2022, finishing with a 133 wRC+ but a high strikeout profile. He struggled during his first full High-A season in 2023, dropping to a 78 wRC+. He started another High-A stint with solid output before faltering in Double-A, and his 2025 season began poorly.
