Justin Dean, 29, was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Cubs following a brief major-league role with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Dean appeared in 18 regular-season games for the Dodgers in 2025, primarily as a pinch-runner and defensive replacement, with two plate appearances and one stolen base. Dean made the Dodgers' postseason roster for each of their four postseason series, appearing in 13 of 17 playoff games, scoring the tying run in Game 4 of the NLCS and signaling a ground-rule double in Game 6 of the World Series. In Triple-A Oklahoma City, Dean played 90 games and slashed .289/.378/.431 with six home runs, 33 RBIs and 27 stolen bases, marking career-high offensive production at the minor-league level.
