Dodgers sign pitcher, brother of River Ryan
"The Dodgers signed RHP Ryder Ryan to a minor league deal, sources tell The Athletic. Brother of Dodgers RHP River Ryan. Will make $800K if he makes the majors.- Fabian Ardaya (@FabianArdaya) January 29, 2026"
""I'm excited to get out to big league camp and be on the same team again," River Ryan said. "Last time we were on the same team was in high school. It's really col to be able to be on a team like the Dodgers with your brother. "...He's got a sinker, a good cutter, working on a changeup right now, which I think is gonna be one of his better pitches, has a good slider. I think the Dodgers are going to really like what they see in him.""
Ryder Ryan agreed to a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers that includes an $800,000 payout if he reaches the major leagues. River Ryan expressed excitement about joining the same organization and noted Ryder's sinker, cutter, developing changeup and effective slider. Ryder was drafted by Cleveland in 2016 and was traded to the Mets in 2017 as part of the Jay Bruce deal. He later moved to the Texas Rangers in 2020, signed with the Seattle Mariners and made a single scoreless MLB appearance with two strikeouts in 2023. He then signed with Pittsburgh and appeared in 15 games, pitching 20.2 innings.
