Missouri opens its 2025 season Aug. 28 at home against Central Arkansas. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz plans to play both Sam Horn and Beau Pribula in the opener to inform the quarterback competition decision. Horn missed all of 2024 recovering from Tommy John surgery and has only four career college games from 2022-2023; he was a four-star 2022 recruit. Horn was selected by the Dodgers in the 17th round, receiving a $497,500 signing bonus and ranked 128th on MLB Pipeline's 2025 draft list. Pribula transferred from Penn State and previously backed up Drew Allar.
That is of some interest for the Los Angeles Dodgers, as Sam Horn, one of their 2025 MLB Draft picks, is in the running to start at quarterback for the Tigers. According to Heather Dinich of ESPN, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz is planning to play Horn and Beau Pribula in their season opener in order to help make a decision on the QB competition: "I informed the team this afternoon that both quarterbacks will play in the first game," coach Eli Drinkwitz said in a statement. "I want to see them in a game-day situation to make a final determination."
Horn missed the entire 2024 season - both in football and baseball - due to recovering from Tommy John surgery. He enters this season for the Tigers having only played in four career games from 2022-2023. He was a four-star football recruit for the 2022 class. Horn was drafted by the Dodgers in the 17th round and received a $497,500 signing bonus. The 21-year-old was ranked 128th in MLB Pipeline's prospect rankings for the 2025 MLB Draft.
