Brewers hire former Blue Jays Daniel Vogelbach and Guillermo Martinez
"Vogelbach had two different stints with the Blue Jays. Before the 2020 trade deadline, the Jays sent cash considerations to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for his services, with the first baseman receiving just five plate appearances. His other stint came in 2024, as he signed a minor league deal with the team in Feb. 2024, making the opening day roster. Both times, he was designated for assignment."
"Vogelbach's career will be most known for his time with the Mariners. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2011, but was traded to the Mariners in 2016. The first baseman made his debut that season, registering just 13 plate appearances in 2016 and 31 in 2017. It wasn't until 2019 when Vogelbach became a regular, hitting .208/.341/.439 with 30 home runs in 558 plate appearances for a 112 wRC+."
The Milwaukee Brewers added Daniel Vogelbach and Guillermo Martínez as hitting coaches under lead hitting coach Eric Theisen. Vogelbach had two stints with the Blue Jays, acquired before the 2020 trade deadline and again on a minor league deal in February 2024, and was designated for assignment both times before joining the Brewers via waiver claim in 2020. Vogelbach also spent time with the Pirates and Mets and became a regular with the Mariners in 2019, posting a 112 wRC+. Martínez served as the Blue Jays' hitting coach from 2018–2024 and coached the Knoxville Smokies in 2025. Other recent Blue Jays-affiliated hires include Don Mattingly and John Gibbons.
