"The Padres came calling in the ninth round of the 2021 draft, signing the right-handed pitcher to a signing bonus of $75,000. Hawkins finished his 2021 season with the Arizona Complex League team, posting a 2.35 ERA and 2.39 FIP in 15.1 innings pitched. He was stretched out as a starter the following season, making 17 starts in Single-A and and four in High-A, where he had a 4.74 ERA and 4.52 FIP in 93 innings pitched."
"Hawkins returned for the 2025 season and moved into a full-time relief role. Beginning the season with the Padres' High-A team, the 6'5", 230 lbs righty posted a 1.43 ERA and 2 FIP in 44 innings pitched, with a 37 K% and 8 BB%. In early August, Hawkins earned a callup to the Padres' Double-A team, where the 26-year-old had a 1.69 ERA and 2.83 FIP in 16 innings pitched, along with a 30.3 K% and 15.2 BB%."
Garrett Hawkins is a 6'5", 230-pound right-handed pitcher from Biggar, Saskatchewan. He played at Vauxhall Academy, then the University of British Columbia, and in 2021 for the Trenton Thunder of the MLB Draft League. The San Diego Padres selected him in the ninth round of the 2021 draft with a $75,000 signing bonus. He pitched in the Arizona Complex League and was stretched out as a starter in 2022 across Single-A and High-A. After Tommy John surgery ended his 2023 season and sidelined him in 2024, he returned in 2025 as a full-time reliever, posting excellent High-A and Double-A metrics.
