He enrolled at Mississippi State, refined a power fastball and swing-and-miss secondary pitches over three seasons, posted a 12.5 K/9 and a .209 opponent average in his junior year, and was drafted in the 5th round in 2021 by the Kansas City Royals, progressing through the minor leagues as an experienced Canadian arm.
