Blue Jays manager extremely vocal about another controversial play
Several questionable umpiring decisions impacted the Toronto Blue Jays over the course of recent games. A Tampa Bay fan reached over the wall, contacted Nathan Lukes and caught the ball; the on-field call labeled it fan interference but said it would have been a home run. In Kansas City, Daulton Varsho made a diving catch that replay showed was a catch, yet the ruling stood as a no-catch. In Boston, George Springer hit a ball down the third-base line ruled foul and not reviewable, a call protested as costing two runs.
"It was a fair ball down the third base line. I thought it was fair. Even on the replay I thought it was fair, but it's not a reviewable play. It sucks, that's two runs there and it's a 2-1 game. I don't know if it's why we lost, things can change over the course of a game. It's a border line call on a really good hitter,"
"It was fan interference but it would have been a home run anyway."
"It should've been a two-run double."
