Atlanta Braves Minor League Recap - JR Ritchie Caps off August with Two Strong Starts
Briefly

Durham defeated Gwinnett 4-1. JR Ritchie struck out seven over five innings, marking his most innings at one level this season and showing parallel numbers to prior stops. His walk rate rose to about 4 BB/9 while maintaining a 9 K/9 and an ERA near 3.19. The bullpen faltered after Ritchie, with Connor Seabold allowing a three-run homer and Enoli Paredes struggling with command and allowing a run. Gwinnett collected five hits, stranded six runners, and went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position. Eddys Leonard hit a ninth-inning homer for Gwinnett's lone run.
After his blow up against the Memphis Redbirds, JR Ritchie has put together back-to-back strong starts, this timing striking out seven over five innings of work. At 42 innings, this is the most JR has pitched at a level this season and when you look at what he's doe at Rome, and Columbus - it looks as though he is really settling into the increased competition level because his numbers through these eight starts are quite parallel to his eight starts with the Columbus Clingstones.
JR Ritchie pitched through the fifth inning before being replaced by Connor Seabold (1IP 3H 3ER 1BB 0K) who struggled to generate whiffs and ultimately gave up a three run homerun to give the Bulls a 3-0 lead. He was replaced by Enoli Paredes (1.2IP 0H 1ER 2BB 2K) who struggled with his command and gave up a run of his own, hitting a batter and walking another one before leaving the game with two outs in the eighth inning.
