Atlanta Braves Minor League Preview - 9/1
Briefly

JR Ritchie draws the start for Gwinnett in a Labor Day matchup with Durham, coming off a dominant outing in which he tossed six innings allowing one hit, zero runs, two walks and recording 11 strikeouts. Ritchie will seek better results against the Bulls after giving up four earned runs and issuing five walks over 4.2 innings in his prior meeting with Durham. The Stripers stranded seven runners yesterday and managed only two extra-base hits despite ten total hits, going 3-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Luke Waddell collected three hits, including a two-strike hustle double, and owns a .289/.384/.371 line with a 14.5% strikeout rate and 13.1% walk rate for the season.
JR Ritchie gets the ball in today's special Labor Day game as the Stripers host the Bulls. JR is coming off of arguably one of his best starts as a professional (6IP 1H 0R 2BB 11K) last week against the Norfolk Tide where Ritchie did not have the same troubles putting batters away, leaning on his two seam, and cutter.
The Stripers will need a little more help with runners on, as yesterday they stranded seven runners, and went 3-for-8 with runners in scoring position, but more importantly had just two extra-base hits (two doubles), despite 10 hits. Luke Waddell, however, was on top of it with three hits yesterday, including a two strikes hustle double. Luke's season has been a bit under the radar because of the lack of power numbers, but for the season he is hitting .289/.384/.371 with a 14.5% strikeout rate.
