The Houston Astros announced the signing of 35-year-old catcher Christian Vázquez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Vázquez previously played for the Astros during their 2022 World Series championship season and also won a title with the Boston Red Sox in 2018. After spending three years with the Minnesota Twins, Vázquez experienced offensive struggles last season, batting .189 with three home runs and 14 RBIs. His career peak occurred in 2019 when he achieved a .276 batting average with 23 home runs and 72 RBIs. Currently, Vázquez is competing for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic.
