A potential idea Blue Jays could have for Alek Manoah to pitch in 2025
Briefly

Alek Manoah has not played in over a year after undergoing Tommy John surgery and is eager to return to the big leagues. He began rehab in August with a three-inning Double-A start for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, striking out two. Manoah advanced to Triple-A Buffalo, where his first outing lasted five outs with three earned runs, then improved in a subsequent outing to 4.2 innings allowing one earned run with four strikeouts. The Blue Jays could give Manoah one or two late-season starts if the division or a playoff spot is secured to evaluate his readiness and identify offseason improvements. The final six games at home against Boston and Tampa Bay could limit low-pressure opportunities, but a Rogers Centre start remains possible to assess his fit for 2026.
While the 2025 Toronto Blue Jays have been enjoying their most successful season in almost a decade, one player that hasn't been able to contribute to that success has been starting pitcher Alek Manoah. Manoah hasn't played in over a year after under going Tommy John surgery last year. Manoah is eager to return to the big leagues and pitch again for the Blue Jays and within the last month of the schedule there may be an opportunity for him to do so.
Earlier in August, Manoah threw his first rehab start in Double A with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, going three innings and striking out two batters. Manoah then made his way up to Triple A to start with the Buffalo Bisons. His first outing did not go well, recording just five outs and giving up three earned runs on two hits, three walks and one hit batter, with one strikout.
