Old San Juan boasts rich historical sites like Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Castillo de San Cristóbal, accessible for a $10 fee. The author visited San Cristóbal, appreciating its military history through tunnels and weaponry. La Puerta de San Juan stands out as a free historical landmark near the water, ideal for photos. The nightlife at La Placita de Santurce is lively, with music and a party atmosphere, featuring bars like Aguardiente Bar and Tulum, with affordable drink prices.
I also recommend stopping by La Puerta de San Juan (the San Juan Gate), a bright red gate that used to be the entrance to Old San Juan.
For just $10, I got access to both sites, but due to time constraints, I only visited San Cristóbal.
