"I've gone through adversity. I've been through ups and downs every day. I didn't do this by myself, but if you have a solid foundation of friends and family behind you, you can overcome anything."
"He changed my life a lot. He pushed me and challenged me in so many different ways. I was never a talkative person before coach Pitino, but being under him, you get to come out of your shell. He's been able to change my perspective on life."
Zuby Ejiofor achieved historic recognition by winning Big East Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors, becoming the first player in St. John's history to secure both awards simultaneously. Leading the Red Storm in points (16.0), rebounds (7.1), assists (3.5), and blocks (2.0) per game, Ejiofor delivered standout performances during conference play, including a triple-double against Villanova and multiple 20-point games. His contributions helped St. John's win their second consecutive Big East regular season title, an accomplishment not achieved in 40 years. After beginning his college career at Kansas with limited playing time, Ejiofor transferred to St. John's where head coach Rick Pitino's mentorship transformed his development and confidence both on and off the court.
