"Slimp hit a single and California Baptist walked UCLA batting stars Megan Grant and Woolery to set up the game-winning fly ball Garcia hit to right field. Inouye-Perez said she doesn't like talking about Woolery and Grant much because she gets emotional, but she noted they bring calm to the Bruins' lineup and help every player contribute to game-changing rallies."
UCLA opened NCAA Regional play with a 12-11 comeback win over California Baptist at Easton Stadium. California Baptist led 11-7 entering the sixth inning after UCLA surrendered 10 runs, driven by defensive errors and starting pitcher Taylor Tinsley’s miscues. Brynne Nally relieved and allowed a two-run home run before UCLA stopped the rally. UCLA scored two runs in the sixth, then added a two-run home run in the seventh by Joylna Lamar. Rylee Slimp scored on Aleena Garcia’s one-out sacrifice fly to right field. Slimp’s single and walks to Megan Grant and Jordan Woolery set up Garcia’s game-winning hit. UCLA’s offense and coaching contributed to clutch production throughout the lineup.
