"Just watching the Saints each and every Sunday, just being inspired by Drew Brees, just being inspired by the guys. I actually wore No. 9 in college. So just being inspired by the things around me. People often say, 'You're a product of your environment.' And just watching the same each and every Sunday, growing up, just being around it."
"The love for the Saints runs deep in the Etienne family. His great-grandmother rooted for them and that trickled down to the rest of the family. When Etienne was a child, he and his younger brother Trevor, who is a running back for the Carolina Panthers, pretended to be Saints players."
Travis Etienne Jr. joined the New Orleans Saints in free agency after spending five seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The running back, drafted first round in 2021, felt destined to return to Louisiana, his home state. Growing up, Etienne was deeply inspired by Saints players, particularly Drew Brees, and wore number 9 in college as a tribute. His family's love for the team spans generations, beginning with his great-grandmother. Etienne and his younger brother Trevor, now a Carolina Panthers running back, spent their childhood playing football together and imitating Saints legends Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush. He returns with his 11-month-old son, named Saint after the team.
