Garfield High's boys' soccer team competed in the inaugural CIF state Division V championship game at Natomas High, supported by over 100 fans. The Bulldogs traveled from East Los Angeles and lost 2-0 to Ross Branson due to two defensive communication errors. Coach Pablo Serrano praised the team's outstanding performance, noting goalkeeper Javier Zarate's impressive play. Zarate personally thanked CIF executive director Ron Nocetti for establishing the annual state championship event. In Division IV, Irvine University won the boys' title 3-2 over Del Mar, with goals from Cole Barkett, Jake Raboid, and Brendan Leung.
