Wild O.C. police pursuit ends in dramatic crash, fatal shooting of driver

On a Wednesday night in Anaheim, police pursued a suspected shooter involved in a motel shooting that left another man injured. The chase, which began shortly after 7:45 p.m., was marked by reckless driving and ended on a bridge over the Santa Ana River after nearly an hour. Police executed a PIT maneuver that caused the suspect's truck to crash. Officers opened fire on the suspect, who was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger surrendered to police. Identities of those involved have not been released.
The incident began shortly after 7:45 p.m. in the Orange County city when officers responded to a shooting at a motel in the 300 block of North Brookhurst Street.
After an almost hourlong chase, the pursuit ended near West Memory Lane and North Bristol Street, which is around eight miles from the scene of the shooting.
