Vet describes deadly confrontation with naked intruder in Los Angeles: 'I was going to kill him'
""I'll never forget it.""
""It was just horrendous.""
""The guy came out after her and he tried to talk him off the ledge.""
""I pressed the gun against him and I fired... fired three times and the last shot... I made sure I was going to kill him.""
George Karkoc, a 79-year-old landlord and Vietnam War veteran, confronted a naked intruder who entered a neighbor's apartment and attacked her. Security cameras recorded the intruder wandering the sidewalk, speaking in Spanish and attempting to enter a gate. The intruder chased the neighbor outside and then attacked Karkoc, pinning him to the ground and leaving him with shattered bones in both legs. Karkoc fired his gun three times, fatally wounding the assailant. Police suspect the attacker may have been intoxicated or experiencing mental-health challenges. The family launched a GoFundMe to help cover mounting medical bills.
