An individual has been impersonating building management to gain entry to residences on the 1100 block of 28th Street and the 2600 block of Orchard Avenue near USC by claiming to repair water leaks. Once inside, the suspect asked inappropriate personal questions, including about romantic relationships, and in one case took a resident's car key fob and later returned it. Multiple reports prompted the Department of Public Safety to warn residents to verify unknown visitors through building management. Residents are instructed to call DPS at (213) 740-4321 or (323) 442-1000 if unsure, and to call 911 if in immediate danger.
