Roki Sasaki, Kyle Hurt & Tommy Edman Struggle In Rehab Assignments With Triple-A Oklahoma City
Briefly

Roki Sasaki has been on the injured list since May 13 due to a right shoulder impingement that twice shut him down from throwing. His rehab assignment has been uneven, and he allowed four runs over five innings with two home runs while striking out two. Kyle Hurt, recovering from Tommy John surgery in late July 2024, made a brief appearance, walking a batter and allowing a run on a single but inducing a double play. Tommy Edman has been out since early August with a sprained right ankle and is focusing on outfield work during his Triple-A assignment. The OKC Comets fell behind early in Sasaki's start and could not overcome the deficit despite his settling down after the first inning.
Sasaki's struggles were most apparent as he allowed four runs over five innings, giving up three hits, walking two, hitting one and striking out just two. The right-hander also allowed a pair of home runs, which put the OKC Comets behind early and in a deficit they couldn't overcome. Sasaki retired the first two batters he faced, then hit a batter and immediately followed that with a home run allowed. Sasaki came back with another walk, and then allowed his second homer of the inning.
Hurt underwent Tommy John surgery in late July 2024, and there wasn't much of an expectation that he'd pitch this season. But the Dodgers are leaving him as an option to return this season, even if it's unlikely. Edman has been out since the beginning of August because of a sprained right ankle, which has given him troubles throughout the season. Those issues have lingered and presented him from playing much center field, but the Dodgers are having him focus on the outfield.
