Federal authorities arrested Jerry Wimbley III, a member of the Pasadena Denver Lanes Bloods gang, for allegedly participating in a shooting spree that resulted in two murders last summer in Lancaster. He faces charges including two counts of murder in aid of racketeering. Two other gang members are also indicted, including Wimbley's brother. The gang's activities are tied to enhancing their power and influence. If convicted, the defendants could face life sentences or potentially the death penalty, as highlighted by U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli's comments on the alleged violence.
"As alleged in the indictment, these defendants engaged in violent and senseless acts. Their alleged shooting spree is intolerable," said U.S. Atty. Bill Essayli.
The murders and attempted murder were allegedly committed to enhance the power and influence of the PDL Bloods street gang, which has existed since the 1970s.
