Hudson Gossard switched from defensive coordinator to offensive coordinator following coaching changes just before the season opener. His wife, Codi, underwent surgery and was driven from the hospital to surprise him with a pregame kiss. Crescenta Valley opened its new stadium on Sept. 5, giving players the chance to play on their own campus. Gossard called plays from the press box, echoing his late father Dennis, who died in June after about 50 years with the program. Crescenta Valley won the game 42-21 amid strong emotions and memorable moments.
