"Laura and I are deeply committed not only to Pacific Palisades, but to the future of local journalism and community news. It's going be a labor of love to rebuild the newspaper and we hope that by doing so, we can speed up the recovery of Pacific Palisades."
"We're all certainly well aware of the difficulties facing the traditional newspaper publishing model and how that doesn't seem to work anymore. But we're also aware of the successes that newspapers are having by sort of standing that model on its head."
The Palisadian-Post, a community newspaper serving Pacific Palisades for nearly a century, closed following the Palisades fire that destroyed thousands of homes and businesses and decimated its advertiser and subscriber base. New owners Laura and Tim Schneider, longtime residents with publishing careers, have purchased the publication and plan to relaunch it on May 4, coinciding with its 98th anniversary. The Schneiders aim to support community recovery by providing rebuilding information and attracting residents and businesses back to the area. They recognize the challenges facing traditional newspaper models but believe they can create a financially sustainable future by adopting a digital-first approach and reimagining conventional publishing strategies.
