"After less than a year open, Mar Vista's Beethoven Market has lost its liquor license after the Department of City Planning found the restaurant to be in breach of its Conditional Use Beverage (CUB) permit. The loss of the license is the latest development in an ongoing dispute between the restaurant and its neighbors, who have filed numerous complaints with the City of Los Angeles since Beethoven Market's opening in March 2025."
"A spokesperson for Beethoven Market told Eater that the restaurant is in talks with city officials about the matter. On January 13, Adler posted a statement to Beethoven Market's Instagram and website, asking the community for support. "Beethoven Market was created first and foremost as a positive, welcoming gathering place for our neighborhood and community," he writes. "We are currently working with the City of Los Angeles regarding the revocation of our liquor license. During this process, we are not serving alcohol.""
Beethoven Market opened in March 2025 and lost its liquor license after the Department of City Planning found a breach of its Conditional Use Beverage permit. The City of Los Angeles terminated the restaurant's Restaurant Beverage Program authorization by letter dated December 18. Owners Jeremy Adler and Brenda Fabe Adler were informed of the termination. A spokesperson said the restaurant is in talks with city officials. Adler posted on January 13 asking the community for support and said the restaurant is not serving alcohol during the process. Neighbors raised concerns about alcohol sales, late-night hours, parking, safety, and circulated a petition.
