Melisa Arnold, 66, retired from a human resources and payroll job and now walks miles daily in Inglewood, where jackhammers and airplane noise from Los Angeles International Airport shape daily life. Her route passes the remodeled Kia Forum, the new Intuit Dome, SoFi Stadium, upcoming World Cup games, the next Super Bowl, and Olympic events in 2028. The city of nearly 103,000 has received billions of dollars for stadiums, infrastructure, and entertainment development, including repaved streets and digital billboards. A former strip mall near the Kia Forum is being converted into additional parking, and Arnold supports redevelopment if business revenues are equitably distributed to the community. Inglewood’s sports fortunes have fluctuated, including a major downturn after the Lakers and Kings left in 1999, followed by renewed momentum with the Rams and Chargers arriving in 2020.
