Jed the Fish, KROQ DJ whose taste in music helped shape the 1980s and '90s, dies at 69

Jed the Fish, born Edwin Jed Fish Gould III, passed away in Pasadena at the age of 69 due to an aggressive lung cancer diagnosed earlier this year. His significant impact on KROQ as a DJ from 1978 to 2012 made the station a leading authority on music, particularly punk and new wave in the 1980s and alternative rock in the 1990s. His friend Rudy Koerner highlighted how Jed's influence at KROQ shaped musical tastes not just in Los Angeles, but across California and the nation.

Jed influenced KROQ, the station influenced Los Angeles, L.A. influenced California and California influenced the taste of the nation, Koerner said.
