Michael Chavis has signed with the Chunichi Dragons in Nippon Professional Baseball after being released from Triple-A Oklahoma City by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Chavis has not played in the MLB since 2023 and was with several organizations, including the Seattle Mariners and Chicago White Sox, without receiving a call-up. Chavis, who hasn't played in the Major League since 2023, was blocked from earning a call-up with the Dodgers despite strong performance at Triple-A.
Over his career, Chavis has played for several MLB teams, including the Red Sox and Pirates, but now looks to find success in Japan.
In his season at Oklahoma City, Chavis achieved a batting line of .291/.350/.547 with 13 home runs and 45 RBIs.
