Tommy Edman exited the game against the Tampa Bay Rays in the fifth inning after injuring his ankle while rounding first base. He had previously required a stint on the injured list for the same issue. Edman was replaced by Miguel Rojas and was 1-for-2 at the plate before the injury. Manager Dave Roberts may consider placing Edman on the injured list again. Edman’s ankle injury has been ongoing since May, raising concerns about his impact on the team and his health status.
"That's the thing that, it is a blurred line. The players obviously feel that they're not hurt, where they can play and post, which is great. But the line of, are you still hurting the team, hurting yourself, that's the thing that the organization, the training staff, we've got to make that decision."
"It's something that's kind of always there," Edman said about his injury. His ongoing ankle injury has plagued him for much of the season, beginning in May.
