The Los Angeles Dodgers experienced a historic defeat, going 0-6 against the Los Angeles Angels in the Freeway Series. They lost crucial leads in the final two games, resulting in a drop to second place in the National League West. Shohei Ohtani expressed his disappointment after the loss, mentioning the mental strain of close games and the team's efforts to improve. Ohtani pitched at Angel Stadium for the first time as a visitor and reflected on his positive memories of the stadium. He also struck out Mike Trout twice during the game.
"It doesn't feel good to lose close games," Ohtani said through an interpreter. "It's tough mentally."
"Obviously it doesn't feel good to fall into second place and to lose a lot of these games," he said. "We're doing everything in our power - just having close meetings, doing everything that we can - to try to right the ship. We just have to do a better job."
"I had a lot of good memories being on this stadium. It's one of my favorite stadiums to play on. So it was a really important mark for me to be able to pitch on this mound again," Ohtani said.
On Wednesday, it was more of the same for Ohtani, as he struck Trout out twice - once swinging on a sweeper and once looking on a 100.7 mph fastball.
