"I see him playing more versus left than right, and then I want to see him with my own eyes in games,"
"He's going to be taking ground balls at second base as well, but I can't really say yet how much I'm going to play him at second base versus center field until I really see it."
"Because I do know that kind of getting off the ball is something I'm going to be really mindful of watching. So once he gets to full speed, it's kind of easier, which lends itself to center field. So I can't really answer that right now."
"Today is a day that I would've liked Alex Call in there, but [Edman] is just going to play the outfield right now. I just don't know how long that's going to be."
Tommy Edman was activated off the 10-day injured list and started in center field for the Dodgers after missing just over a month with a sprained right ankle. The ankle has been a recurring issue since last season, and Edman took a deliberate approach to recovery to ensure he could play down the stretch. Manager Dave Roberts expects Edman to get most of his reps in center field while monitoring his ability to get off the ball, though Edman will take ground balls at second base and could eventually resume time there. A move to center would allow Andy Pages to shift to left field. Edman has played 87 games this season and is hitting .228/.281/.394 with 13 doubles, one triple, 12 home runs and 44 RBI in 336 plate appearances.
