Dave Roberts downplays effect of Padres' trade deadline on Dodgers
Briefly

The Los Angeles Dodgers were active but did not make significant trades at the 2025 MLB trade deadline, acquiring Brock Stewart and Alex Call along with prospects. The San Diego Padres made major trades, acquiring Mason Miller and others, while the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies also made impactful moves. Manager Dave Roberts stated that the team prefers to focus on its core players instead of worrying about the moves made by competitors. Stewart and Call are expected to contribute positively now and in the future for the Dodgers, who avoided giving up significant assets.
In all honesty, I don't think it affects us. A lot of teams got better, and that's what teams try to do that are competing at the deadline. But I think for us, I love the core of our club, and certainly with the guys we have coming back. It really doesn't affect us. We've just got to focus on ourselves.
While the Dodgers didn't make splashy moves, Stewart and Call were both solid additions to the roster and filled needs. Both should make an impact for the club not just this year, but in the future as well.
