Kurt Suzuki became the Los Angeles Angels' manager on a one-year contract, the sixth managerial hire in eight seasons. General manager Perry Minasian also has one year remaining on his contract while the franchise endures 10 straight losing seasons after a 72-90 finish. Suzuki is a former 16-year catcher who served as Minasian's special assistant for three seasons and will assume the role amid pressure to produce quick improvement. Suzuki expressed urgency to help the team, community and players and showed emotion thanking his wife and three children at Angel Stadium. Albert Pujols was among candidates considered.
