On August 18, 2001, Shawn Green reached 100 RBIs in a single season for the Los Angeles Dodgers, a record previously held only in Brooklyn Dodgers history. He achieved this milestone with a solo home run against the New York Mets. That season, Green finished with a total of 125 RBIs and 49 home runs, his career highs. Over his five seasons with the Dodgers, he had a batting average of .280 and contributed significantly to the team's success. Other left-handed hitters later joined the 100 RBI club for the Dodgers.
On Aug. 18, 2001, Shawn Green became the first left-handed batter in Los Angeles Dodgers franchise history to reach 100 RBI in a single season.
Green finished the 2001 season with 125 RBI and 49 home runs, both of which were career highs over Green's 15 years in the Majors.
Green was acquired in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays in November 1999 and signed to a six-year, $84 million contract extension.
