UK's 'first' cat cafe in east London set to close
Briefly

Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium, the first cat cafe in the UK, is set to close due to significant debt stemming from the Covid pandemic. Manager Freyja Hides-Westwood has launched a fundraiser to buy the assets and reopen under her vision. The cafe has successfully rehomed over 100 cats, emphasizing its mission to provide care and a temporary home for strays. As the closure date approaches, the initiative has raised over 33,000 towards a 50,000 goal, highlighting community support for maintaining the establishment's legacy and future sustainability.
Lady Dinah's is a place where unwanted or stray cats can find a temporary home, filled with care, enrichment and love - where their individual personalities are nurtured and respected.
With a fresh start, a smaller operation, and new leadership, I believe we can build a more sustainable future.
The funds raised will go directly towards buying the cafe's assets and setting up a leaner, more resilient version of Lady Dinah's.
Lady Dinah's has been responsible for the rehoming of more than 100 cats since opening, organising all details from rescue and adoption in-house.
