The Community Space Like No Other | Neighbourhood Watch
"The Exchange is a community hub powered by North Paddington Foodbank who are the UK's first and only cash-first foodbank. Instead of offering food parcels, the foodbank gives out cash and vouchers instead, creating real routes out of crisis. This in turn helps foodbanks evolve into hubs of culture, care and community."
"Exchange hosts a vast array of events, from chess nights to pilates to cocktail making, and all events are intergenerational. The Saturday morning pilates class often sees popular DJs working out with the more elderly members and the vision boarding allows people to map out their dreams while getting advice from others who may have lived similar lives."
The Exchange operates as a community hub managed by North Paddington Foodbank, the UK's first cash-first foodbank providing financial assistance and vouchers rather than traditional food parcels. This approach creates pathways out of crisis while enabling foodbanks to evolve into cultural and community centers. Designed by Fran Lee of Flourish design studio with input from West London residents, the space hosts diverse intergenerational events including chess nights, pilates classes, cocktail making, and vision boarding sessions. The venue welcomes volunteers and seeks partnerships for event hosting and space utilization, located at 61 Elgin Avenue, Maida Hill, London.
