Euston station to shut for six days over Easter as 30m rail upgrade works take place
"From Good Friday through to Wednesday 8th April, there won't be any Avanti West Coast or London Northwestern Railway between Euston and Milton Keynes stations. There will be a limited London Overground (Lioness line) service on Good Friday and Easter Monday to Willesden only - but no service on the Saturday or Sunday, and a full service on Tuesday and Wednesday."
"£8.4m of track work will take place at Willesden including the renewal of switches and crossings (moveable sections of track that guide trains from one track to another), and installing new railway foundation stone (ballast). A bridge in Ledburn, just south of Leighton Buzzard will see a £6.6m investment in waterproofing the bridge to prevent future damage to the structure."
"Engineers will also complete over £7m of signalling upgrades nearby, helping reduce failures and improve journey reliability. Over £8m will be spent on renewing overhead line equipment near Wembley to enhance safety and power resilience. £2m of enabling works will be carried out in Bushey as part of a project to upgrade the power supply that keeps trains moving in and out of London."
Euston station will close to most services from Good Friday through Wednesday 8th April for large-scale engineering works on the railway line. Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway services between Euston and Milton Keynes will be suspended entirely. Limited London Overground service operates only on Good Friday and Easter Monday to Willesden, with no weekend service. Full service resumes Thursday 9th April. Engineering projects include £8.4m track renewal at Willesden, £6.6m bridge waterproofing at Ledburn, £7m signalling upgrades, £8m overhead line equipment renewal near Wembley, £2m power supply upgrades in Bushey, and £5.8m station improvements at Harrow & Wealdstone. Multiple other rail routes experience reduced services during the Easter weekend.
