"Former Deputy Mayor of Hounslow Councillor Hina Mir recently sought to overturn a county court fine issued in January that required her to pay 40,000 for employing an illegal worker. She attempted to appeal this fine and it was rejected by the judge. Cllr Mir remained a Labour councillor, and was even re-selected for the 2026 elections despite Hounslow Labour apparently being aware of the ruling against her."
Hina Mir, a former Deputy Mayor and Hounslow councillor, was ordered to pay 40,000 for employing an illegal worker and 3,620 in court costs after an unsuccessful appeal. Mir sought to overturn a January county court fine but the judge rejected the appeal. Mir, a qualified solicitor, paid the student cash-in-hand to look after her children and do household chores. Hounslow Labour kept Mir as a councillor, re-selected her for the 2026 elections and appointed her Chair of the Housing and Environment Scrutiny Panel in May. Conservative councillor Jack Emlsey called the handling evidence of double standards. Questions have been raised about whether other councillors, including Cllr Rehman, properly declared company directorships.
