Hounslow council is pursuing funding from the Green Heat Network Fund to create a heat network utilizing warm water from the Mogden Sewage Works. This project aims to recycle waste heat to warm around 30 major buildings, significantly enhancing sustainability in Isleworth and Brentford. The technology involves extracting heat using a heat pump, with plans to develop a £53m project by 2029. The network will ensure that sewage water remains contained and does not contaminate the incoming clean water used for heating local buildings.
Once operational, the Hounslow Heat Network will extract the heat from sewage outflows using a heat pump and transfer it to clean water.
Hounslow council has requested up to £11m from the Green Heat Network Fund to develop plans for a £53m project that could be ready by 2029.
