"RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey said the union had "forced management into a position where they are now willing to seriously engage with the issues our members want addressing. Further talks will take place and the dispute remains live"."
"Reading between the lines, it seems that London Underground have given enough assurances to the RMT union that the four-day week would be a trial on the Bakerloo line, and voluntary."
Planned London Underground tube strikes for later this month have been called off after discussions between Underground management and the RMT union. The dispute centers on management's proposed condensed four-day week schedule. While the core issue remains unresolved, both parties have agreed to resume negotiations. All other strike dates from April onwards continue as scheduled, with additional strike action added for 16 and 18 June. RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey stated the union forced management into serious engagement on member concerns. Reports suggest Underground management provided assurances that the four-day week would be implemented as a voluntary trial on the Bakerloo line only.
