"The council has continually laid the blame of the negotiation gridlock at the feet of APCOA which the council outsources its parking contract to. APCOA has previously said its pay offer of 13 per hour was a fair one, but GMB has called it unacceptable as it is below the London Living Wage of 14.80. The union also said it hasn't heard from APCOA since their initial talks last November in which the union demanded a 17 per hour wage for its members."
"They will not issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) to motorists violating parking regulations, meaning Bromley Council will lose money. Traffic wardens in Bromley will strike from January 6 to January 9 over pay. GMB members working as Civil Enforcement Officers will perform only contractual duties and will not issue Penalty Charge Notices, reducing council parking revenue. Bromley Council blames APCOA, the outsourced parking contractor, while APCOA offered £13 per hour. GMB calls the offer unacceptable because it is below the London Living Wage of £14.80 and has demanded £17 per hour. The union says APCOA has not engaged since initial talks. Strikers marched to Bromley Civic Centre on December 19 and the union questions revenue losses and replacement staffing costs.
