"Speaker's House can almost be described as a Palace within a Palace, as it's exceptionally richly decorated and is both the private home of the Speaker of the House of Commons and a suite of state rooms used for events away from the main Parliamentary buildings."
"The tours were an idea of the current Speaker, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, who wants to open up more of the estate to the general public, with the first tours taking place in 2022."
"Profits from the tours will go to the Speaker's Art Fund, which supports arts and educational projects that aim to increase understanding of Parliamentary democracy in the UK."
Speaker's House, the private residence and state rooms of the Speaker of the House of Commons, opens to the public for Easter tours from March 28 to April 11, 2026. The initiative, launched by Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle in 2022, aims to increase public access to Parliament's estate. Tours lasting approximately 75 minutes begin in Westminster Hall with radio headpieces and include the Grand Staircase, Crimson Drawing Room, State Dining Room, and State Bedroom. General admission costs £21, with discounts for UK armed forces at £14 and free entry for essential companions. Photography is prohibited during tours except in Westminster Hall. Tour profits support the Speaker's Art Fund, funding arts and educational projects promoting understanding of Parliamentary democracy.
