Transport for London spent £113,365 between July and September on a private security firm to prevent rough sleepers returning to Park Lane after an encampment removal. The security company, understood to be MEC Security, was hired this summer following the clearing of tents on the central reservation. TfL said people rough sleeping at the site were warned they would be removed if they returned and that the authority will work with Westminster City Council outreach teams to connect individuals to support. Local businesses reported harassment of customers by encampment occupants. A similar encampment near Marble Arch was also cleared following a court order.
