South London council awarded title of 'best borough in London'
"We are delighted to have won this award because it acknowledges our commitment to engaging with our residents and partners on how we can shape change in our borough. We are a dynamic, ambitious borough where change is a constant, and we are determined to fully play our role shaping that future. Core to that determination is how we support inclusive growth that ensures that everyone here can contribute to and benefit from the many projects and developments across Lambeth."
"The borough scooped the prize at the NLA awards, an event run by the organisation that was formerly known as New London Architecture, on Thursday, November 20, a borough home to the popular Brixton, Gipsy Hill and Clapham neighbourhoods. Lambeth Council was awarded the title due to their work across London that delivers equity, sustainability and inclusive prosperity, listing projects that focused on affordable housing, climate infrastructure and public growth."
Lambeth was awarded Borough of the Year at the NLA awards supported by London Mayor Sadiq Khan. The award recognized the borough's delivery of equity, sustainability and inclusive prosperity through projects focused on affordable housing, climate infrastructure and public growth. The borough includes Brixton, Gipsy Hill, Clapham and Herne Hill and contains landmarks such as the London Eye on the Southbank. Councillor Claire Holland highlighted commitment to resident and partner engagement, inclusive growth, and the sharing of jobs, skills, homes and life benefits across communities. Brixton Recreation Centre won best cultural project for creatively reimagining old spaces with new lighting and signage. Lambeth Council was commended for engaging young people in local development.
