A 12-year-old boy is among seven individuals arrested after 11 police officers were assaulted on a north London high street. Officers responded to reports of theft attempts from a shop in High Road, Wood Green. Upon arriving, they were attacked by seven suspects. The police reported that the officers suffered minor injuries and received medical treatment. Arrested suspects include a 12-year-old boy for racially aggravated public disorder, a 13-year-old girl for common assault, and a 15-year-old boy for assaulting an officer, while additional suspects aged 15 and 16 were also arrested. Police are seeking more information from the public.
A boy aged 12 is among seven people arrested after 11 officers were attacked on a north London high street. Police were called to reports of a large group attempting to steal items from a shop in High Road, Wood Green, just before 5pm on Tuesday.
Upon their arrival, seven people assaulted them as crowds filmed on mobile phones near a Sainsbury's Local, McDonald's branch and the Vue Cinema complex. A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said 11 officers sustained minor injuries.
A 12-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order and criminal damage. A girl aged 13 had been held for common assault along with a 15-year-old boy detained for assaulting a police officer.
The force said: Four teenagers, a child and two adults remain in police custody after they were arrested following a large disturbance in High Road, Wood Green at 4.53pm on Tuesday.
