Ryan Calais Cameron, a Catford-born playwright, is gaining significant acclaim as a rising star in British theatre. With two successful West End plays and multiple TV projects underway, Cameron reflects on how his schedule has become overwhelming. To focus on his writing commitments, which include developing shows for Netflix and Channel 4, he has relocated to a quieter environment in Rotterdam. His breakthrough came from the critically acclaimed play 'For Black Boys who Have Considered Suicide when the Hue Gets Too Heavy', which explores Black male vulnerability and gained traction from a small theatre to the West End.
People used to call my agent and she'd say: Ryan isn't free for 18 months.

It opened at the tiny New Diorama Theatre and snowballed in popularity from there.
A sort of existential celebration of Black male vulnerability in which a group of young men spill their darkest secrets.
