Laila Cunningham will be Reform UK's candidate for the 2028 London mayoral election. Nigel Farage joined her at a news conference with banners reading "London needs Reform." Cunningham, who defected from the Conservatives last year, pledged an "all-out war on crime" and identified priorities for the Metropolitan Police as "tackling knife crime, drugs, robbery, shoplifting, rape." She proposed to rewrite the London police and crime plan and give the Met "new marching orders" to "tackle crime that matters." Cunningham also pledged to scrap the ultra-low emission zone if elected. Reform intends to use Cunningham as campaign figurehead ahead of May local elections.
