A thief stole a suitcase from a taxi boot outside St Pancras station in central London on 19 October. After grabbing the luggage, the suspect abandoned it and fled on foot. A police officer pursued him initially on foot, but a bystander offered his bicycle to aid the chase. The officer caught the suspect, identified as Hicham Labidi, 33, of Stepney. Labidi pleaded guilty to theft from the person at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court. Additional charges of attempted theft, handling stolen goods, and drug possession were dropped. He faces sentencing on 25 March. Police emphasized their commitment to addressing theft concerns affecting London residents and visitors.
