"The Press Association, a UK news agency, reported that police drew their batons during the clashes, and one protester was seen with blood streaming down his face behind a barrier after being arrested. The agency also reported that police had screaming arguments with demonstrators and had water and plastic bottles thrown at them while several protesters fell over in a crush at one point."
About 1,500 protesters gathered outside the UK Parliament to demand lifting the ban on the Palestine Action group, risking arrest under terrorism laws. London police arrested about 150 people on charges including assaulting an officer and expressing support for a proscribed organisation. Video and eyewitness accounts showed officers using batons and force, with at least one protester bleeding after arrest. Organisers and demonstrators said officers mass-arrested people holding signs reading "I oppose genocide. I support Palestine Action." The Metropolitan Police said officers faced punches, kicks, spitting and objects thrown at them while policing the rally. The protests follow the UK government's July decision to proscribe the group.
